One of the photographers I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the years is Mike Mitchell. During a break on a photo shoot one day he mentioned that one of his very first assignments was taking pictures of The Beatles on their inaugural tour of the United States. When he showed me some of the prints, I was struck by how beautiful and unique they were.
A few years later he decided to auction off a limited edition of the photographs in an event that brought him national attention. Today, on the fiftieth anniversary of The Beatles first U.S. concert at the Washington Coliseum, he was in the news again. Congratulations Mike! You are a true artist…
We’ve developed a tradition in our family of exchanging music mixes every Christmas. I always like my mixes to have a “theme” and enjoy designing the covers almost as much as coming up with the playlists themselves. The first one I did was back in 2000 and, of course, was a collection of Beatles covers. I am including a link to a video playlist so you can hear, and in some cases see, the music.
